Sources and Legal Frameworks:
- Geneva Conventions (1949) and their Additional Protocols (1977): These are treaties that establish international legal standards for humanitarian treatment in war.
- Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (1998): This treaty established the ICC and defines the crimes that fall within its jurisdiction, including war crimes.
- Hague Conventions (1899 and 1907): These treaties set out the laws of war and war crimes, focusing on the conduct of hostilities.
Understanding these war crimes help in identifying and documenting violations, contributing to the pursuit of justice and accountability.
